Sunday, May 20, 7-9 pm Deerfield Library
Our five state representatives and state senator have been invited to a public forum on the 2007 Legislative Session for all residents of Deerfield, Candia, Nottingham and Northwood. The NH House of Representatives has considered over 1000 pieces of legislation, ranging from requiring licensing of contractors and masseuse, the revamping of the state retirement system, legalizing civil unions, expanding coverage of health insurance for young adults, eliminating the burning of construction debris, increasing the minimum wage, paying the legal fees of the Supreme Court justices impeached several years ago, banning greyhound racing and legalizing medical marijuana…and don’t forget the definition of an adequate education and the state budget, LCHIP and renaming the Epsom Traffic circle in honor of Officers Briggs and Charron.
This year we are represented by four freshmen legislators and Rep Johnson who is the most senior member of the NH House. This event will be your chance to ask them and our state senator about issues, the challenge of legislating and how they decide their positions of a wide range of legislation.
The “Evening with our Legislators” is sponsored by the Deerfield Democratic Town Committee. We hope you’ll join us at the Deerfield Library, 4 Old Center Rd. For questions, call Rebecca at 463-7692.
